Referral management service
Your GP will discuss with you and, if appropriate, your carer, about why a referral is being recommended. It is usually because your GP wants a specialists help in deciding on the best way to treat your condition. This request is then sent to the referral management service (RMS).
The RMS is there to discuss the choices available to you and to help you book your appointment in a location and at a time that are convenient for you. They will try to contact you three times before they book an appointment on your behalf and put the details in the post. You can change this appointment if it is not convenient and in their letter they will tell you how.
Normally you will not wait more than 18 weeks before the start of your treatment.
If you have any concerns, please call them on 01603 964520. They are open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Important: Important notice
The referral management service will be discontinued at the end of 2024.
